Vattenfall sells stake in Muir Mhòr floating offshore wind project to Fred. Olsen Seawind
Vattenfall agreed to sell its stake in the Muir Mhòr floating offshore wind project to its joint venture partner, Fred. Olsen Seawind, for an undisclosed sum. Located approximately 63 kilometers off Peterhead, Scotland, the 1 GW project secured seabed rights in the 2022 ScotWind round and received onshore consent in 2025, with offshore consent still pending. Operations are expected to commence in the early 2030s. The divestment aligns with Vattenfall's strategic focus on projects such as Nordlicht I and II in Germany and Zeevonk in the Netherlands, while continuing construction of the Clashindarroch II onshore wind farm in Scotland. The revised ownership structure aims to support the project's route to a future allocation round, pending regulatory approval from Crown Estate Scotland, which holds the seabed lease.
