Ventura Offshore secures contract extensions for SSV Victoria semi-submersible rig and Atlantic Zonda drillship with Petrobras and Eldorado Drilling, adding over $600M in backlog
Offshore drilling firm Ventura Offshore secured contract extensions worth over $600 million for two offshore units operating in Brazil, significantly boosting its backlog. The SSV Victoria semi-submersible rig received a 1,455-day extension from Petrobras starting January 2027, adding approximately $466 million in backlog, with deployment planned at the Búzios field in the Santos Basin. The rig will undergo a docking period for maintenance and installation of a managed pressure drilling system before starting operations. Ventura Offshore also extended the Atlantic Zonda drillship's contract by 365 days through at least Q2 2029, adding about $145 million in backlog with an option for a further two-year extension. The SSV Victoria is a sixth-generation ultra-deepwater semi-submersible rig capable of drilling in up to 10,000 feet of water, while the Atlantic Zonda is a seventh-generation ultra-deepwater drillship operating in up to 12,000 feet of water. CEO Guilherme Coelho highlighted the agreements as a testament to Ventura Offshore's operational performance and long-term partnership with Petrobras, enhancing backlog visibility for future planning.
