Viridis Green Data Centres secures Sydney site and partners with Oper8 for 800W data center development
Australian data center company Viridis Green Data Centres secured a metropolitan Sydney site within 15km of the central business district to develop an 800W data center. The facility will be built to Tier III specifications, with construction estimated to begin in 2026 and commissioning expected in late 2027. The project is valued at AU$8 million (USD 5.7 million), with Viridis managing the development and partnering with Oper8, a modular data center business acquired by Viridis in 2025. Viridis, which focuses on renewable data centers, has a growing presence along Australia’s East Coast, with additional facilities in development in Townsville, Brisbane, Hunter Valley, and Adelaide. The Sydney project marks Viridis’ expansion into one of Australia’s most critical data center markets.
