Western Australia commits $1.4 billion to fund clean energy transmission projects Clean Energy Link – East and Clean Energy Link – North
The Western Australia government committed USD 1 billion (AUD 1.4 billion) to establish a clean energy fund supporting transmission and network services projects, including Clean Energy Link – East and Clean Energy Link – North. Western Power, the state-owned network builder and operator, will deliver the projects to expand the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) and improve renewable energy access between Malaga and Three Springs in Western Australia. Clean Energy Link – East will connect new solar and wind projects east of Collie, delivering reliable clean power to approximately 1 million households by expanding the SWIS to Perth and WA’s South West. Clean Energy Link – North, scheduled for completion in late 2027, will feature high-capacity transmission lines, terminals, substations, and transformers to unlock clean energy flow from the Mid West, supporting 3 GW of renewable energy delivery to commercial, industrial, and residential customers. Both projects will create about 800 local jobs during construction and are declared priority projects under the State Development Act 2025 to streamline approvals and ensure timely delivery.
