Winda Energy and Gi21 Capital to develop 100MW data center in Lapland, Finland

Finnish renewable energy developer Winda Energy Oy and investment firm Gi21 Capital announced a partnership to develop a 100MW data center in Rajakangas, Keminmaa, Finland. The €500 million ($582 million) project will span 15 hectares and is scheduled to begin construction in 2027, with the first phase expected to complete in 2028. The project is located in the 45-hectare Rajakangas industrial and logistics zone at the intersection of the E8 and E75 highways in northern Finland. Winda Energy, majority-owned by Czech private equity investor BHM Renewables, specializes in wind and solar projects totaling over 1GW and 800MW respectively across Finland. The company previously signed a power purchase agreement with Amazon, highlighting its role in supporting energy-intensive digital infrastructure.
