Financing Storage announced Finland Apr 15, 2026

Winda Energy has secured financing from Wood & Co. to develop two new battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Finland, located in Äänekoski and Laukaa. The Äänekoski project will have a capacity of 30MW/60MWh, while the Laukaa project is planned at 45MW/90MWh, totaling 75MW of new storage capacity. Construction on both sites is scheduled to begin in spring 2026, with commercial operations expected to start in the second quarter of 2027. Tuomas Hooli, CEO of Winda Energy, emphasized the strategic importance of battery storage as the backbone of a reliable renewable energy system amid Finland's growing wind and solar capacity. Robert Doucha, investment director of the WOOD & Co. Renewables sub-fund, noted that the projects are at the 'ready-to-build' stage, with local expertise critical for successful delivery.
