Zambia signs PPA for 100 MW hybrid wind and solar project
100 MW
Capacity
China’s DZGM Energy Resources signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Zambia’s state-owned utility Zesco for the development of a 100 MW hybrid wind and solar project. The project is expected to be completed within six months, aligning with Zambia’s push to diversify its energy mix beyond hydropower, which currently accounts for over 80% of its electricity generation. The agreement reflects the government’s emphasis on private sector participation in the energy sector to enhance generation capacity and energy security.
