Basin Electric Power Cooperative has chosen PCL Industrial Construction Co. as the general contractor for the Bison Generation Station, a $4-billion natural gas-fired power plant in North Dakota. The 1,490-MW facility will be the largest power plant in the state, featuring two 745-MW combined-cycle units with advanced technology to improve efficiency and reduce emissions. Construction is set to begin soon, with commercial operation expected in 2029 and 2030. The project will create about 1,000 jobs during construction and 40 to 50 full-time staff once operational.
