Elecnor announced the completion of 330,000 solar panel installations at the Tauhei Solar Farm, a 202 MWp joint venture between British renewables developer Harmony Energy and New Zealand-based First Renewables. The project, located on a 182-hectare site near Hamilton in New Zealand's North Island, is on track for commissioning in late 2026 and full operations by 2027. Once operational, the facility will generate approximately 280 GWh of renewable electricity annually, sufficient to power around 35,000 New Zealand homes. The solar farm will connect to New Zealand's national grid via Transpower's 110 kV Waihou substation, with Meridian Energy committing to a 10-year power purchase agreement for 100% of the project's output. Harmony Energy highlighted the project as a major milestone in New Zealand's renewable energy transition, setting a new benchmark for large-scale solar development in the country.
