EDF begins construction on 80 MW Taduff Solar Park in County Roscommon, Ireland
EDF has commenced construction on the 80 MW Taduff Solar Park located approximately 6 km southwest of Athlone in County Roscommon, Ireland. The project is scheduled to become operational by Spring 2028 and will generate enough renewable electricity to power around 20,000 homes annually. This solar park supports Ireland's 2030 climate targets by displacing fossil fuel-based generation and reducing national carbon emissions. A Community Benefit Fund of €180,000 per year will be distributed over 15 years to support local initiatives in the region. EDF is coordinating with Roscommon County Council and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery. The company currently operates three other solar farms in Wexford and Kilkenny, where nearly €100,000 has been allocated to community projects since 2023.
