EDF begins construction on 80 MW Taduff Solar Park in County Roscommon, Ireland

EDF has commenced construction on the 80 MW Taduff Solar Park in County Roscommon, Ireland, with a scheduled operational date of Spring 2028. EDF, a French electric utility company, currently operates three other solar farms in Wexford and Kilkenny, where nearly €100,000 has been allocated to community projects since 2023. The Taduff Solar Park will generate enough renewable electricity to power around 20,000 homes annually and will displace fossil fuel-based generation, reducing national carbon emissions. The project includes a Community Benefit Fund of €180,000 per year, distributed over 15 years to support local initiatives in the region, and EDF is coordinating with Roscommon County Council and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery. The construction began on 2026-03-19, with EDF committed to building a carbon-neutral energy future through this and other projects.
